PROGRAMMER!

Lemme share you my crazy thoughts and experience as a programmer.
I start my day by sitting on a chair thinking, brain cells grinding and facing at the monitor. Syntax, algorithm and codes flows through my veins. Scrathing my back, pulling my hair and staring at the ceiling when i hardly think of a way to code the system. This basically sums up my life as a programmer. For those who didnt know, programmer is someone who writes computer software. and hey, writing a software is not an easy task! But when you get used to it, it is easy and full of fun as if you are playing Mario Kart on Nintendo DS. B-)
It is true that a typical programmer is a nocturnal person. Late to sleep and late to rise in bed.. hehehe. My GF is complaining about my eyebag and i told her: “honey, just like your professional license card, this is my proof of being a programmer!”. But now Im starting to give more time to sleep bcoz lack of sleep depletes mental capability and also affect your melatonin production (My eyebags are disappearing and I’m starting to look like a human again hehehe).
For me, programming is all about Logic and Love. Logic, as the science of the formal principles of reasoning, enables the programmer to correctly design program flows and structures. Love, as the science of romance, inspiration and motivation, gives the programmer an extra adrenaline boost of energy to pay extra time, sleepless nights and energy just to complete the program. Apparently, the level of your programming skills depend on the level of your Logic and Love. Programmers should also ALWAYS think outside the box and dont look at a tree, stand-up and look at the forest!
Last year, I got promoted from programmer position to systems analyst position. Simply put, I am still a programmer + a responsibility of researching, planning and recommending software and system choices to meet an organization’s business requirements. The road becomes longer and wider and the challenges are now bigger.
I just make sure that programming is something I enjoy doing. You spend probably 50% of your life at work. So if you are not enjoying work, then you did not enjoyed your 50% of life!
Ciao
